Breast Cancer (BC)

Symptoms

Most often, breast cancer appears as a painless «ball» (bump) or lump in the chest. Moreover, if the mass is hard and with jagged edges, then the likelihood of cancer is higher.

Also, symptoms include:

  • Change in the size, shape and appearance of the mammary glands
  • Indrawing, redness, ulceration and other changes on the skin of the breast
  • Change in the shape and appearance of the nipple or skin around the nipple (areola)
  • Abnormal discharge from the nipple
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the armpit area or near the collarbone (this can sometimes be a sign that breast cancer has spread before the primary tumor in the breast is noticeable)

Up to 90% of tumors in the mammary glands are not malignant.

There are many reasons for the appearance of lumps in the breast, most of lumps are not a malignant tumor. However, if an abnormal lump is found in the breast, it is important to contact a mammologist without delay.
